A seminar and workshop titled “Energy Sector Reform and JUST Transition” was held at Chittagong University, organized by Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) Youth Group Chittagong University. Over a hundred students participated in the event held at the Marine Science Auditorium of Chittagong University.

CU Proctor Professor Dr. Hossain Shahid Sohrawardi attended as chief guest and Fozle Rabbi Towhid, Law and Human Rights Secretary of CUCSU, was present as special guest. CAB Youth Group CU President Rozain Al Rafi presided over the event and General Secretary Tanzim Ashraf Ratul delivered the welcome speech.

The workshop’s keynote and various sessions were conducted by Engineer Shubho Kibriya (Research Coordinator, CAB), Marufa Koli (Project Coordinator, CAB), Anis Rayhan (Research Fellow, CAB), Saiyedul Abrar (Project Officer, CAB), and CAB Youth Parliament members Nazifa Taznur and Sabat Mostafa Prothon.

The seminar discussed in detail Bangladesh’s energy sector reform, energy pricing process, irrational expenses and profits in the supply system, expansion of renewable energy, and the importance of Just Energy Transition and Energy Justice. The sessions became lively with active participation from attendees, and group-based activities created opportunities for practical discussions.

In the closing remarks, the organizers expressed hope that this initiative will increase awareness among young people about energy sector reform and just transition, and will play a positive role in responsible policymaking in the future.

CAB Youth Group CU Organizational Secretary Tahiyat Chowdhury and Office Secretary Tasnuva Ira presented the program.
