A mini operation theatre was inaugurated at Chittagong University Medical Centre following demands from Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU). The inauguration took place on Thursday (February 5, 2026) at 9:30 AM at CU Medical Centre.
CU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Admin) and Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamal Uddin attended the inauguration ceremony as chief guest and inaugurator. CU Atish Dipankar Hall Provost A.G.M. Niaz Uddin was present as special guest.
In his speech as chief guest, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Admin) Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamal Uddin highly praised the initiative, saying it is a milestone for Chittagong University Medical Centre. He said they are taking students’ healthcare seriously. He thanked the medical centre authorities and CUCSU and assured full cooperation from the university administration for the overall development of the medical centre.
In his speech as special guest, Atish Dipankar Hall Provost A.G.M. Niaz Uddin expressed gratitude to CUCSU for such planning and the medical centre for its implementation. He hoped this initiative would improve healthcare services for CU students.
CUCSU Health Secretary Afnan Hasan Imran delivered the welcome speech, moderated by Bijoy 24 Hall Union Health Secretary Sanjida Sharmin Trisha. He said he had mentioned launching a mini operation theatre at CU Medical Centre in his election manifesto. He expressed happiness that it has been implemented through sincere efforts of the university administration and medical centre authorities. He expressed hope that the administration will continue its cooperation in implementing the remaining commitments.
CU Medical Centre Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mohammad Abu Taiyab presided over the ceremony. He said they are committed to providing all kinds of healthcare to students. With this mini OT operational, students will no longer have to go outside campus for minor surgeries.
Medical officers and other officials and staff of the medical centre were also present at the event.
