‘Porishudhdho‘, the first poetry collection by Tonmoy Datta Mishu, a student of the English Department at Chittagong University (CU), has been published. The book was released in January 2026 by Darikoma Publications.
Tonmoy Datta Mishu is a student of the English Department from the 2018-19 academic session. He was born on April 22, 1999, in Cumilla. He has been involved in writing since his school days and his poems have been published in various magazines and national daily newspapers.
He served as associate editor of the second edition of CU Bondhushava’s magazine ‘Jarulpatro‘. Additionally, he worked as organizer and publisher of ‘Ek Fali Rouddur‘, a wall magazine featuring writings by teachers and students of the English Department. Five editions of the magazine were published from 2020 to 2025. He also worked as founder of Blood Aiders-CU, former vice president of CU Bondhushava, and former organizational secretary of Chittagong University Film Society.
The poetry collection ‘Porishudhdho‘ features various elements of love, humanity, non-communal consciousness, and postmodern thoughts. The foreword of the poetry collection was written by Takit Mallick, a teacher in CU’s English Department.
In the foreword, he writes, ‘Undoubtedly, as Mishu’s teacher, I am delighted and proud. Mishu’s writing is different from his usual behavior. His poetry is not like the quiet Mishu. Mishu’s humanistic poetry in literature contains love, non-communal consciousness, and a touch of postmodernism.’
He further says, ‘Like Nazrul’s poem “Manush”, Mishu’s poem “Manush” also brings out the concept of human equality beyond the binary of rich-poor, farmer-laborer, owner-worker. A call for revolution in gentle language and the dream of an inclusive Bangladesh are also reflected in his poetry.’
The poet said he visited various publishers since 2021. Finally, with the manuscript published as a book, a long wait has ended.
‘Porishudhdho‘ is currently available on Rokomari.com. The book will be available at Darikoma Publications’ stall at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026, which begins tomorrow, February 26.
