The Department of Communication and Journalism, Chittagong University (CU), brought together its teachers, students, officials and staff for an Iftar Mahfil on Wednesday (February 25) at the university’s Botanical Garden.
Around 120 students, ranging from first-year to Master’s attended the event. Department Chairman Shahab Uddin joined along with several faculty members including Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Haque, Associate Professors Kh. Ali Ar Raji, Mohammad Delwar Hosen, Assistant Professor Hamida Sultana and Lecturers Md. Atiq Ullah, Nazneen Akter and Dr. Abdur Razzak.
Prior to Iftar, Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Haque led a prayer for the well-being of all present. After the Azan, attendees broke their fast together and offered Maghrib prayers in congregation. Lecturer Md. Atiq Ullah, who also serves as the department’s student advisor, coordinated the event.
Speaking at the occasion, Chairman Shahab Uddin said, “Such gatherings help build stronger connections within the department. I hope that more similar events will be organized in the future.” He also congratulated Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Haque on his recent promotion.
Student Advisor Md. Atiq Ullah expressed satisfaction over the successful completion of the event and acknowledged the contributions of Master’s student Rifat Khan in making it happen.
Fourth-year student Mahbub Hasan Forhad said, “Events like this bring teachers and students closer. I hope the department would continue to organize such programs.”
