An Iftar Mahfil was held at Chittagong University (CU) with the participation of over 3,500 students, organized by Islami Chatra Shibir. The event took place on Friday (February 27) at the premises of the university’s central mosque.

The program was presided over by branch Chatra Shibir President Ibrahim Hossain Rony and conducted by Hafez Mujahidul Islam. Darsul Quran was presented by International Islamic University teacher Sharif Uddin Patowary. Chatra Shibir Secretary General Sibgatullah Sibga attended as chief guest.

The Chatra Shibir Secretary General said, “Ramadan is a blessed month that teaches people to achieve taqwa. Even though I have the opportunity, I am not eating, I am not doing bad things—this is taqwa.” He said, “The Holy Quran was revealed in this Ramadan. Even if someone studies up to Master’s in general education but does not know the Quran, their life remains incomplete. The teachings of the Quran are the only light to remove the darkness of society. The ignorant society at the time of the Prophet’s (PBUH) arrival was enlightened through the Quran. Whatever subject students study, it is necessary to understand it from the perspective of the Quran and apply it in life.”

In his presidential address, Ibrahim Hossain Rony said, “We thought that the environment of various crimes including rape that occurred in the past would no longer exist. But even now in the country, girls aged 6 to 15 years are also victims of rape and torture. Incidents of theft, robbery, fighting, and conflict are also occurring. To prevent this moral degradation in society, we must return to religious values.”

Also present at the event was CU Philosophy Department Associate Professor Mojammel Haque. CUCSU GS Syed Bin Habib, branch Chatra Shibir Secretary Mohammad Parvez, and recently former President Mohammad Ali also spoke at the event.
