CU Correspondent

Basundhara Shuvosangho, Chittagong University (CU) branch, organized an Iftar Mahfil for underprivileged children. The event was held last Monday (March 2) at the premises of the university’s Central Shaheed Minar. More than 20 street children participated in the Iftar.

Basundhara Shuvosangho CU branch advisor Professor Dr. Makhan Chandra Roy attended as chief guest. The overall program was conducted by General Secretary Shahriar Munim Sabit under the supervision of President Jannatul Ferdous Tumpa.

Also present at the event were branch Vice Presidents Majharul Islam and Sushanto Roy, Skills and Training Secretary Arik Rahman Khan, Sports Secretary Ashikur Islam, Assistant Women and Children Affairs Secretary Fatema Akter, Hospitality Secretary Sonia Akter, Assistant Environment Secretary Sumaiya Tasnim, members Md. Mehedi Hasan Ziku, Md. Solayman, Md. Solaiman Maruf, and other members of the organization.

President Jannatul Ferdous Tumpa said, “Thank you to everyone who worked hard to organize this great event for underprivileged street children. As a social service organization, our responsibility is to think about everyone in society.”

General Secretary Shahriar Munim Sabit said, “The month of Ramadan teaches us to be social. We are all part of the same society. It is our duty to think about the underprivileged sections of society, and any event with them is joyful.”

The General Secretary expressed sincere thanks to Vice President Majharul Islam and Skills and Training Secretary Arik Rahman Khan for their special role in making the event successful. He also said, “I am sincerely grateful to them for the effort they put in even while fasting.”

Advisor Professor Dr. Makhan Chandra Roy said, “Today’s Iftar event was very lively. The children were doing various things. I also felt very good seeing their happiness upon receiving Iftar. Sitting together with them for Iftar was a very good experience. I hope that in the coming days, Basundhara Shuvosangho will move forward through more such public welfare social work.”

Basundhara Shuvosangho, as a social service organization, has been regularly conducting various public welfare activities. The organization announced that such programs will continue in the future.
