Chittagong University Research and Higher Study Society (CURHS) has held the inauguration ceremony of its 5th executive committee. Didarul Islam Mohsin, a student of the Journalism department, has been elected president, while Mohammad Hamidur Rahman, a student of the Chemistry department, has taken charge as general secretary.
The ceremony was held at the Chattogram Theatre Institute Auditorium. Guests present included CURHS advisor and Professor of the Geography department Dr. Alok Pal, Professor of the Computer Science and Engineering department Dr. Farah Jahan, Professor of the Marine Science department Dr. Shahnewaz Chowdhury, and CURHS moderator and Professor of the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology department Dr. Adnan Mannan.
Greetings were extended by Asian University for Women faculty member Nusrat Afrin, Daffodil International University faculty member Sheikh Mohammad Sayem, and outgoing CURHS president Sanjida Haque Prima and general secretary Amit Chowdhury. Representatives from Chittagong Medical College Research Club, CUET Biomedical Society, Asian University for Women Science Club, IEEE Premier University, USTC Pharma Club, Drishti Chattogram, Prothom Alo Bondhushava, and Network of Young Biotechnologists Bangladesh also greeted the new committee.
The newly elected vice presidents are Jhurjhuri Chakma, Mehedi Hasan, and Sadia Rahman Faiza. Antara Raisa and Saiful Islam Siam have been chosen as joint secretaries, while Samir Islam will serve as organizing secretary.
In his closing remarks, newly appointed president Didarul Islam Mohsin outlined the organization’s future goals and plans.
CURHS has been working on research and higher education at Chittagong University since 2019. Over the past 8 years, the organization has helped more than 500 students apply for higher studies abroad, directly or indirectly, and trained nearly 2,000 students on various aspects of research. It regularly organizes seminars, workshops, research fairs, higher education training, English language training, and informational sessions.
