The Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) has launched a five-day free self-defense training program aimed at equipping approximately 600 female students with essential safety techniques and confidence.
The workshop was inaugurated on Tuesday, September 8, at 4:00 PM at the university’s Shahid Hridoy Chandra Tarua Bhaban. The opening session was attended by CUCSU Vice President Ibrahim Roni, General Secretary Sayed Bin Habib, Female Student Welfare Secretary Nahima Akter Deepa, and Assistant Female Student Welfare Secretary Jannatul Ferdous Rita.
Under the initiative, organized by the Female Student Welfare wing of CUCSU, each participant will attend two hands-on sessions conducted by a professional female instructor. The curriculum focuses on fundamental martial arts maneuvers, practical defense techniques against potential physical threats in everyday situations, and basic physical fitness routines.
Stressing the impact of the initiative, Assistant Female Student Welfare Secretary Jannatul Ferdous Rita noted that the primary goal is to foster courage, resilience, and tactical readiness among female students so they can handle adverse circumstances without panic. She confirmed that all 600 participants will receive formal certificates upon successfully completing their two training sessions
