Chittagong University is set to launch an online certificate application system on September 10, aimed at making certificate related services faster and easier for graduates. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan will formally inaugurate the platform.

Under the new system, graduates will be able to apply for certificates, transcripts, marksheets and verification services from anywhere in the country. Application fees can be paid online through bKash, and applicants will also be able to track the status of their requests.

Application Process
The process involves six steps: email verification, filling out the application form, uploading required documents, paying fees through bKash, review by the Controller of Examinations office, and finally collecting the documents.

Certificate Branch
A regular original certificate costs 800 taka, rising to 1,200 taka with the urgent fee. For external or affiliated college certificates, it is 900 taka, or 1,300 taka urgent. A provisional certificate costs 400 taka, or 700 taka urgent. Duplicate original certificates cost 1,500 taka, or 1,900 taka urgent, while a second duplicate costs 2,000 taka, or 2,400 taka urgent. A duplicate provisional certificate for external students costs 1,200 taka.

Marksheet Branch
Fees for lost, damaged, Bangla-to-English or corrected marksheets are 220 taka, dropping to 110 taka if the error was the university’s own and the application is made within three months of results. An urgent marksheet fee is also 220 taka.

Verification Branch
Verification fees run from 400 taka for local institutions to 1,000 taka when routed through a third party. Verification for government institutions and for foreign embassies based in Bangladesh is free, as is verification through Bangladesh’s embassies abroad. Verification for foreign institutions costs 50 US dollars.

Preparation Branch
A duplicate admit card costs 77 taka.

MPhil / PhD Branch
An MPhil, MD, MPH or MS provisional certificate costs 700 taka, or 1,000 taka urgent, while the original certificate costs 1,100 taka, or 1,400 taka urgent. For PhD, a provisional certificate costs 800 taka, or 1,100 taka urgent, and the original certificate costs 1,200 taka, or 1,500 taka urgent.

Academic Branch
A registration card costs 400 taka.

Attestation Branch
An attested copy costs 400 taka, or 600 taka urgent. A minimum pass testimonial costs 400 taka, and a result publication certificate costs 100 taka the first time and 200 taka the second time.

The university has noted that all fees are subject to change and the exact payable amount will be confirmed at the time of application.

The system has been developed by the ICT Cell of Chittagong University. Applications can be submitted at cert.cu.ac.bd.
