University invites applications for MPhil, PhD programmes
Chittagong University has invited applications for MPhil and PhD programmes for the January 2026 session, offering research fellowships of up to Tk 40,000 per month for PhD students and Tk 20,000 for MPhil students.
Acting Registrar Prof Dr Mohammad Saiful Islam issued the admission notice on February 1 2.
The fellowships will be awarded based on merit. MPhil students will receive Tk 20,000 per month for two years, while PhD students will get Tk 40,000 per month for three years.
The programmes are available across all faculties, departments, institutes and the Jamal Nazrul Islam Centre for Advanced Studies at the university.
The application fee for both MPhil and PhD programmes (full-time and part-time) is Tk 500. Candidates must download the application form from the CU website and submit it with a bank draft or pay order in favour of the Registrar, Chittagong University, issued from any branch of Agrani or Janata Bank.
Applications must be submitted to the Higher Education and Research Section of the Registrar’s Office during office hours between February 1 and March 5, 2026. Incomplete applications and those received after the deadline will be cancelled.
Candidates with honours and master’s degrees in relevant subjects from this university or any other recognised university in Bangladesh can apply for the MPhil programme. Candidates with equivalent degrees from foreign universities will also be considered eligible.
For PhD programmes, candidates with required educational qualifications in relevant subjects from this university or any other recognised university in Bangladesh can apply.
Both MPhil and PhD applicants will have to appear for written and oral examinations on research preparation and subject-specific knowledge conducted by respective departments, institutes or research centres. The examination fee must be paid in cash to the concerned department, institute or research centre.
