The Chittagong University Journalist Association (CUJA) will hold its 2026 executive committee election on Tuesday with 14 candidates competing for eight positions.
University Proctor Prof Dr Hossain Shahid Sarwardy, serving as Chief Election Commissioner, announced the final candidate list on Monday afternoon.
For the president post, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) campus correspondent Redwan Ahmed will face Jugantor correspondent Refayat Ullah.
The vice president race features Desh Rupantar correspondent Azim Sagar against Amar Desh’s Atiqur Rahman.
Pratidiner Bangladesh correspondent Sohel Rana is the sole candidate for general secretary.
Muntaz Ali of DBC News and CTG Post is running unopposed for joint general secretary.
Two candidates—Daily Observer correspondent Jahidul Haque and The Business Standard’s Golam Rabbi—are contesting for office and publicity secretary.
The finance and publication secretary post will see a contest between Dhaka Diary correspondent Mohsin and Sarwar Hossain.
For sports and cultural secretary, Star News’s M Mizanur Rahman will compete against NTV correspondent Fuad Mondal.
Daily Azadi correspondent Shamim Hossain and Nazmul Hasan Rabi are the two executive member candidates.
Voting will take place from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Tuesday, with results to be announced at 3:00pm the same day.
