Acting VC inaugurates ‘Pathway to Research & Beyond’ at Marine Sciences auditorium
Chittagong University Education Club (CUEC) held its grand launching ceremony on Tuesday (June 24, 2026) at the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries Auditorium under the theme “Pathway to Research & Beyond.”
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Al-Amin inaugurated the event as chief guest. “A teacher’s main job is to create a thirst for knowledge among students. In today’s technology-dependent world, these clubs will play an important role in creating a student-friendly environment to improve careers and academic results,” he said.
The event was presided over by Prof Dr Uditi Das, Director of the Institute of Education and Research (IER).
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Md Shafikul Islam and Proctor Prof Dr Hossain Shahid Sarwardy attended as special guests. Prof Dr Shafikul Islam said, “The necessity of organisations like the Education Club at university is undeniable. Through this, students will become more interested in education and research, which will contribute to building the Bangladesh of the future.”
Prof Dr Adnan Mannan of the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Department delivered the keynote address. IER Assistant Professor Tasnia Rubayet and Lecturer Sayeda Fareha Laharen also spoke on academic research and future career guidance.
The second part of the event featured a ‘One Page Research Pitch Marathon’ conducted by 8th batch student Arpa Barua. CUCSU AGS Sayed Bin Habib delivered a goodwill speech during this segment.
Also present were teachers from the Institute of Education and Research, faculty members from various departments, CUCSU AGS Ayobur Rahman Tawfick, club President Ritu Bhattacharya, General Secretary Farhan Bin Alam, and other leaders and students. The programme was hosted by Tanvir Kayes Leon.
The club expressed hope that CUEC will play a leading role in developing students’ intellectual capacity and paving the way for research at Chittagong University.
