The new online payment system launched at the University of Chittagong still shows the old names of three residential halls, drawing criticism from students.
The paperless payment system was launched today, April 27, through an initiative of the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU), in cooperation with the university administration and Sonali Bank PLC. However, the hall selection section of the platform still displays the previous names of three halls whose names were officially changed after the mass uprising of 2024.
Following the uprising, the university administration renamed three halls. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall was renamed Shaheed Farhad Hossain Hall, Janonetri Sheikh Hasina Hall was renamed Bijoy 24 Hall and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall was renamed Nawab Faizunnesa Hall. The new payment system, however, does not reflect any of these changes.
