The Junkers, a band formed by students of Chittagong University, will release their debut original single “Nirob Protikkha” on YouTube tomorrow.
“Nirob Protikkha” explores themes of emotion, silence and longing. Band members describe the track as the beginning of their journey toward building an original sound with a distinct identity.
Vocalist Utsho Das said the release marks a new milestone. “We have performed at various venues across the country, but having our own original song is something we are truly proud of. This track reflects our feelings, experiences and the kind of music we want to create,” he said.
Drummer Muntasir Ali spoke about the effort behind the song and what lies ahead. He said, “We put a lot of time and emotion into this. We are really excited before the release and hope listeners will enjoy it. Our plan is to keep making original music, grow our sound and reach more people step by step.”
The band came together in 2023, when four Chittagong University students united by their love for original music and alternative sound formed the group. It identifies as a modern rock band, with Utsho Das on vocals, Ratul Hossain on guitar, Darda Zahedi Nishan on bass and Muntasir Ali on drums. Nayeem Rakib serves as the band’s manager.
Rooted in the cultural environment of Chittagong University, The Junkers aims to contribute to Bangladesh’s growing independent music scene with honest, emotionally driven music.
