Chittagong, May 23, 2026 — A student of the University of Chittagong has been subjected to obscene and abusive online harassment through an anonymous “bot” account after commenting on a post in the popular Facebook group “Chittagong University Poribar.” The post in question was related to Shamsun Nahar Hall and its student union.
Upon investigation, the victim identified the person behind the fake account as Ali Ahasan Mojahid, a student of the Arabic Department (Session: 2022–23), who has reportedly claimed on multiple occasions to be associated with the student organization Chhatra Shibir.
The victim stated that Mojahid was someone she knew personally and had even considered a younger brother figure. After uncovering his identity, she contacted him directly via Facebook Messenger, whereupon he admitted to making the abusive comment. He further claimed that he had been “set up” or “directed” by others to carry out the harassment.
Screenshots shared by the victim show Mojahid apologizing and expressing remorse, saying he felt “deeply regretful” for his actions.
The victim has called on the group’s admins and moderators to set clear boundaries and take strict action against bot accounts that are repeatedly used for harassment and aggressive commenting, questioning why such accounts are not being removed.
The incident comes on the same day a campus news outlet published a report highlighting irregularities related to hall cards and various ongoing problems at Shamsun Nahar Hall.
The victim has made the accused’s profile link publicly available and is considering filing a formal complaint.
